Personal safety, wearable

Protection worn, not carried.

Safe Track Solutions pairs a discreet tracking chip — built into a press-on nail — with real-time alerts, so help can reach you even when your phone can't.

Why we built this

South African women shouldn't have to choose between safety and freedom of movement.

The scale of gender-based violence in South Africa is what put this team in a room together in the first place.

~9,100

kidnapping cases were reported to SAPS in South Africa between January and June 2026 — the most recent published quarters.

15,343

women are kidnapped in South Africa in an average year — a number that keeps climbing.

This work is personal to our team. In August 2019, Uyinene Mrwetyana — a 19-year-old first-year student at UCT — was abducted and murdered while running an errand. Her death sparked a national reckoning on violence against women that South Africa is still living through.

We started Safe Track Solutions so that reaching help never depends on having a free hand, a charged phone, or a moment no one is watching.

Sources: SAPS Q4 2025/26 (Jan–Mar 2026) and Q1 2026/27 (Apr–Jun 2026) crime statistics. Jul–Sep 2026 figures had not yet been released at time of writing.

The product

Safety, built into what you already wear.

A tracking microchip and voice-recognition module, small enough to sit inside a press-on nail. Pair it once with the STS app, set a safety word, and it's ready — no bag to dig through, no separate device to charge and carry.

Say your safety word and STS checks in, notifies your trusted contacts, then routes your location and audio to an armed response team if you don't respond — all without you touching your phone.

1

Top coat

A normal, wearable finish — indistinguishable from any manicure.

2

Chip protective layer

Seals the electronics against knocks, water, and everyday wear.

3

Tracking chip

NFC pairing, GPS tracking, and voice-recognition trigger.

4

Skin protective layer

Keeps the chip comfortable against skin for all-day wear.

How it works

One safety word. Three escalating checks.

Every alert is designed to rule out false alarms first, so real emergencies get a fast, confident response.

0–30 sec

First alert

Your safety word triggers a check-in. Respond, or say your disable word, and nothing else happens.

+1 min

Second alert

No response — your SOS contacts are notified immediately with your last known location.

+5 min

Third alert

Still no response — your location and audio are sent to the nearest armed response team.

Who it's for

Built around two people who care about the same thing.

The woman wearing it
